WILD TIME to return to Dublin South FM FM for a once off special broadcast

WILD TIME host/producer Thomas Janak has moved to the UK where WILD TIME is on air every Monday evening from 8p.m. - 9.30p.m. on TCR FM.

December 10th 2010 marks the INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RIGHTS DAY and Dublin South FM will broadcast a 1-hour WILD TIME special to highlight the day.

The footage consists of two very different interviews: Thomas Janak talked to Ahmed Diab in Cairo/Egypt about animal rights in Egypt and more. The second piece is an interview with Jordan Wyatt about his blog "Co-Existing with non-human animals".

On air time to be confirmed.

WILD TIME on TCR FM will do a 4-hour special broadcast on December 10th 2010 and there is talk that other radio stations will do something on that day to make this a more global event.

Great news - WILD TIME has found a new home and will go out on air every Monday from 8p.m.GMT, starting on October 4th, on Total Choice Radio, TCR FM locally and globally.

Laura Broxton from NARA, the National Animal Rights Association, was Thomas Janak's final guest as WILD TIME's final show in Ireland went on air earlier today.

Thomas will be moving to the UK permanently very soon.

It is our sincere wish to continue WILD TIME in and from the UK. Contact with UK based radio stations has already been made - watch this space!

100th show and get together!

Update re photographs

Edward Delaney sent the following information concerning the two pictures we were referring to throughout the show:

Notes for photos:

1. The spiral galaxy photo is of the Andromeda Nebula ( M31 in the Catalogue of Messier) and is our nearest neighbouring galaxy. Notable, also, because it is the only such object which can be seen with the naked eye as a hazy blob (the bright center) near the Square of Pegasus in the night sky, everything else being within our Galaxy. The spiral structure only becomes visible with long exposure photos from powerful telescopes. It is larger than our Milky Way Galaxy but, is of similar structure and shows what our Galaxy would look like from the same distance outwards. Andromeda’s celestial motion is towards our Galaxy.

2. This photo is a montage of four images of NGC(New Galactic Catalogue) 7603 recorded as a “peculiar Galaxy” in the “Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies” by Halton C. Arp (California Institute of Technology) 1966. The upper left image is enhanced for luminosity in order to show two fainter objects(2 & 3) situated in the filimentary trail connecting to the main Galaxy (larger object).

The reason it is important is that the smaller objects marked (1,2 & 3) show greater red-shifts, that is motion receding from our part of space, than the larger Galaxy they are connected to, thus contradicting the theory of the expanding Universe known as “Big Bang Theory”. The top right and bottom left images are photos of the normal optical image as seen in the telescope and the bottom left image is a negative of the optical images. The smaller objects are known as QSO’s – Quasi Stellar Objects and seem to be massive conglomerations of matter ejected at some time from the main Galaxy and still connected to it by the wispy “tails” seen in the images. Professor Arp was prevented from doing further research by CalTech directors and eventually left the USA to work at the Max Planck Astrophysics Institute in Munich.

100th Show: "Cosmic Problems"

June 21st 2010 marks the 100th WILD TIME show. Studio guest Edward Delaney and WILD TIME host Thomas Janak explore "Cosmic Problems" in an attempt to deepen mankinds understanding of the universe and our role in it.

Physics and Metaphysics aren't light hearted or easy-to-grasp concepts but we will nonetheless try and put them into plain English.

Edward will refer to the two pictures during the show, which goes out as usual between 1 - 2 p.m.

Because it is WILD TIME's 100th show there will be vegan lemon cake for the studio staff and volunteers and give away CDs for some lucky listeners.

From 5p.m. onwards Thomas Janak will be at the Govindas Restaurant @ Aungier Street, Dublin to celebrate the achievements of WILD TIME.

Edward Delaney will be my guest at 1p.m. on the day and we will be discussing "cosmic problems". From 5p.m. -9p.m. I hope to be seeing YOU in person at the vegetarian restaurant Govindas on Aungier Street, Dublin (a stonethrow away from the famous Market Arcade) for a little get together to celebrate the achievements of WILD TIME in all its shapes and forms.

We're not funded so you'll have to pay your own bill on the day BUT Govindas is more than reasonable and the food is brilliant.

Beautiful puppy Packie was lost (or taken) in Inchicore recently. Please help find him as he should be returned to his rightful and heartbroken owners.

A great night out

Aaron Heffernan's (pictured left) truly impressive performance opened the fundraising event for Dublin South FM, Dublin's first local community radio station, established in 1995.

The bill included DSFM's own Brian Moss and many other acts such as Erik Noon and the future Gypsies.

The turnout was great and so was the athmosphere.

The LUAS stops a short walk away and so do the buses 44 and 44b.

We are now broadcasting daily from 11a.m. to 11p.m. on 93.9fm all over South Dublin.

WILD TIME has just being added to the program schedule and is on every Monday between 1 - 2 p.m.. The program gets repeated Saturday's between 2 - 3p.m.

Naresh Kadyan, India's leading animal rights activist (as he humbly calls himself), will appear on WILD TIME. Naresg is founder chairman of People for Animals Haryana, representing the International Organization for Animal Protection in India.

Also confirmed is Dr. Steve Best who is an award-winning writer, noted speaker, and scholar-activist.

Steven Best engages in array of social theoretical and philosophical topics such as environmental ethics, critical media studies, cultural studies, critical theory, science and technology studies, critical animal studies, critical race theory, ecopedagogy, critical pedagogy, globalization, social movements, gender studies, and peace and conflict studies.

Best has published 10 books, over 100 articles and reviews, spoken in over a dozen countries, interviewed with media throughout the world, appeared in numerous documentaries, and was voted by VegNews as one of the nations “25 Most Fascinating Vegetarians.”

WILD TIME producer/host Thomas Janak recently pre-recorded a full-length interview with Dr. Will Tuttle about his new book: "The World Piece Diet".

What does WILD TIME stand for?

WILD TIME sees itelf as an entertaining yet critical show, aiming to highlight and to educate on all issues animal rights, animal cruelty and animal use related. But WILD TIME is also a world conservation show, covering topics like global warming and energy conservation etc.

Produced and hosted by pet psychologist and holistic animal healer Thomas Janak, who is involved in radio since 2003. Thomas is a professional radio program maker with a FETAC Level 5 accreditation in the mentioned field with merit and distinction.
